What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the most commonly used form of alternative health care in the country. It provides fast, lasting relief from injuries such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches without the use of costly medications, pain injections, and invasive surgeries. Chiropractors use orthopedic and neurological testing, range of motion assessment, palpation, and posture and gait analysis to identify the underlying cause of the problem and then use gentle chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, muscle work, and stretches to correct it. This is a different type of philosophy compared to other medical treatments that use injections and pain medications to numb and cover up the pain instead of fixing the cause of it.
Chiropractic focuses on correcting small misalignments in the spine and skeleton called “subluxations”. These misalignments cause imbalances in joints and muscles that result in pain. Chiropractors use gentle chiropractic adjustments to correct these misalignments and then specific stretches and exercises to loosen tight muscles and strengthen weak ones. This helps to balance the body and relieve stress from the injured area. Chiropractic is great at treating back pain, neck pain, migraines, headaches, shoulder pain, pinched nerves, hip pain, and sports injuries including tendonitis, bursitis, muscle strains, and joint sprains just to name a few.
